Live from Branson

We took the opportunity to sleep in late today. We knew we didn't need to be at the theater until 2, so we took our time enjoying the comforts of our hotel room.

For lunch, we headed to Dick Clark's American Bandstand. It was amazing. There is so much memorabilia there. At this particular location, Carl Perkin's Blue Suede shoes and a signed guitar were there, along with his and others performance contracts. Some acts got paid $100 for their appearances. There were also memos typed and sent from Dick Clark to studio execs about the music business and what was happening at Bandstand.

Then we were off to 50's at the Hop. It was a great show filled with music and memories. Ma said that it brought back plenty of memories and was a fantastic show. The costumes were great.

As for Branson, I can see why people stay for a week--there is so much to do here. There are theaters every 100 yards, water parks, shopping, everything you might be looking for, including spectacular views. We had a great time and will soon be leaving our booth at the Steak 'n Shake for points west in Kansas.

  2. Golly, Kim, it sure sounds like you girls are having a blast! What fun it is to follow you on this amazing trek... Glad you got a chance to stop in Branson -- I gave my parents a trip there for their 40th anniversary, and they didn't stop talking about it for months.

Things are going to start getting a little flat now, so you may need to remind yourselves that the Rockies aren't too far away. And don't follow any little black dogs named Toto!

  6. Hi Kim--I'm still following along. Here's a link to an an online Smithsonian article I spotted today.

At some point you may want to check it out, because it profiles the first woman to drive cross-country.
    Have fun,
    Liz
